Freelance UX Specialist

We’re on the lookout for a freelance UX specialist to help us shape thoughtful, user-centred digital experiences across a range of purpose-driven projects.

We’re a fully remote, award-winning design studio that partners with organisations tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges—from climate action and public health to community empowerment. We build brands, websites, campaigns and reports that help create real, lasting change. And we always lead with strategy, collaboration and conscience.

Since day one, we’ve worked exclusively with clients making a social or environmental impact. Our team spans the UK, Ireland, Spain, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, giving us a truly global outlook and the ability to work smartly across time zones.

We also care deeply about how we work. No egos, no hierarchy, no office politics, just good people doing great work, wherever they are. We believe in flexibility, trust, and treating everyone like humans, not resources.

The role

This isn’t just wireframes and sitemaps (though we love a good sitemap). We’re after someone who can own the UX process, leading research, shaping user journeys, and guiding clients with clarity and confidence.

You’ll be involved from the start: helping us scope projects, shape proposals and run workshops. Once things are underway, you’ll lead stakeholder interviews, audit existing sites, develop IA, sitemaps and wireframes, and collaborate with our strategy, client services, design and dev teams to bring ideas to life.

You’ll need to be confident leading UX on medium-large site builds (mostly WordPress) and ideally comfortable with complex data-rich and content-heavy websites.

You’ll be great at:

  • Leading the UX process from discovery to delivery
  • Running client workshops, interviews and reviews
  • Turning complex content into intuitive experiences
  • Mapping user journeys and developing sitemaps and wireframes
  • Scoping UX deliverables and contributing to proposals
  • Explaining UX thinking clearly to clients and teams alike

You’ll bring:

  • 5+ years’ UX experience (agency or freelance)
  • Confidence working directly with clients
  • A strategic mindset and collaborative approach
  • Solid understanding of accessibility and inclusive design
  • Bonus points for experience with charities, NGOs or sustainability orgs
  • Comfortable with remote teamwork across time zones
  • Must be based in European Timezone (working within GMT ±2 hours)
  • Proactive and reliable — you don’t wait to be told what to do
  • Genuinely care about the quality of the work and the impact it creates
  • You’ll need to have your own equipment/laptop
  • Must be fluent in English, both verbal and written

The details:

  • Freelance / project-based
  • Remote (most of our team is UK/NZ based)
  • Starting ASAP
  • Day rate: up to £300, depending on experience

We’re looking for an experienced mid-weight or senior designer with strong digital branding experience. The role

We’re busy in the studio and on the lookout for an independent, ambitious, talented, ego-free, friendly, senior designer who’s passionate about doing work that makes a difference and enjoys remote working.

The role is fully remote and involves taking the lead on designing across brand, print and digital. You’ll design everything from brand identities and impact reports to websites, while collaborating with our creative team.

We’re looking for an all-rounder but ideally someone with a strong background in digital design and understands the nuances of digital projects, i.e site map planning, presenting digital designs, bringing the digital brand to life, creating special interactions and design magic on the site, briefing developers, overseeing the build and working in CMS.

We don’t usually build massive and complex sites, we create brochure and marketing sites, with our developers in WordPress or Webflow.

You’ll like autonomy and working on more than one project at a time. We know how to make things happen and create great work from home. We’re also an international agency, with teams UK, New Zealand and Australia. This not only gives a global perspective but also allows us to be smart and responsive during the working week by playing to the time zones.

As a small down-to-earth team, you’ll be collaborating with everyone. No hierarchies, no egos, just a bunch of passionate, talented, like-minded people doing our best for great clients that make a real difference.

We’re ten years old and the business has evolved by being a boutique collective of creative freelance senior strategists, designers, writers, account managers, developers, consultants and specialists.
