Freelance UX Specialist
We’re on the lookout for a freelance UX specialist to help us shape thoughtful, user-centred digital experiences across a range of purpose-driven projects.
We’re a fully remote, award-winning design studio that partners with organisations tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges—from climate action and public health to community empowerment. We build brands, websites, campaigns and reports that help create real, lasting change. And we always lead with strategy, collaboration and conscience.
Since day one, we’ve worked exclusively with clients making a social or environmental impact. Our team spans the UK, Ireland, Spain, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, giving us a truly global outlook and the ability to work smartly across time zones.
We also care deeply about how we work. No egos, no hierarchy, no office politics, just good people doing great work, wherever they are. We believe in flexibility, trust, and treating everyone like humans, not resources.
The role
This isn’t just wireframes and sitemaps (though we love a good sitemap). We’re after someone who can own the UX process, leading research, shaping user journeys, and guiding clients with clarity and confidence.
You’ll be involved from the start: helping us scope projects, shape proposals and run workshops. Once things are underway, you’ll lead stakeholder interviews, audit existing sites, develop IA, sitemaps and wireframes, and collaborate with our strategy, client services, design and dev teams to bring ideas to life.
You’ll need to be confident leading UX on medium-large site builds (mostly WordPress) and ideally comfortable with complex data-rich and content-heavy websites.
You’ll be great at:
- Leading the UX process from discovery to delivery
- Running client workshops, interviews and reviews
- Turning complex content into intuitive experiences
- Mapping user journeys and developing sitemaps and wireframes
- Scoping UX deliverables and contributing to proposals
- Explaining UX thinking clearly to clients and teams alike
You’ll bring:
- 5+ years’ UX experience (agency or freelance)
- Confidence working directly with clients
- A strategic mindset and collaborative approach
- Solid understanding of accessibility and inclusive design
- Bonus points for experience with charities, NGOs or sustainability orgs
- Comfortable with remote teamwork across time zones
- Must be based in European Timezone (working within GMT ±2 hours)
- Proactive and reliable — you don’t wait to be told what to do
- Genuinely care about the quality of the work and the impact it creates
- You’ll need to have your own equipment/laptop
- Must be fluent in English, both verbal and written
The details:
- Freelance / project-based
- Remote (most of our team is UK/NZ based)
- Starting ASAP
- Day rate: up to £300, depending on experience
