“In establishing Eldon as a new company, first impressions mattered tremendously, and the brand identity and website often speak first. Jory & Co created a beautiful visual identity (including signature illustrations used across all of Eldon’s materials) and a website that signals quality and creativity. This brand identity and website will serve Eldon incredibly well for years to come.”
Eldon – Navigating ocean risk and opportunity
Eldon is a new strategic advisory firm helping industry leaders, investors and governments protect their commercial and sovereign interests as ocean and coastal conditions change. Founded by Maya Delaney and named after her grandmother, the firm is rooted in The Bahamas — a country where a single storm can wipe out more than a quarter of GDP.
We created the brand identity and website to launch it.
The challenge
The data on ocean risk already exists. Models, disclosure frameworks and screening tools can quantify exposure across just about any sector or geography. What they can’t do is tell a family office, a port operator or a finance ministry what to actually do about it.
That’s the gap Eldon works in. So the brand had to signal judgement, not information. A firm senior people take advice from, and it had to do that from day one.
It also had to avoid two well-worn looks: the ocean NGO, all blues and waves and urgency, and the generic advisory firm, all navy and stock photography. Neither would have been true.
Maya came to us with an unusually clear vision and, luckily for us, very good taste. Elegant, authoritative, deliberate. Sophisticated but understated. Our job was to build it properly and push back where it needed pushing.
The idea
Calm authority. Where most ocean work reaches for alarm, Eldon acknowledges the complexity and demonstrates it’s comfortable navigating it. Composed, unhurried, precise.
That runs through everything. The tone is grounded in experience and judgement rather than advocacy – no frantic urgency, no doom. The palette takes its cues from the Bahamian landscape rather than the sea itself: warm earth tones, sand, deep brown, a restrained natural range that reads as considered rather than corporate. Typography does the heavy lifting – elegant, spacious, confident enough to hold a page on its own.
Two things give Eldon a look that’s recognisably its own. The first is a duotone treatment for photography – images rendered in the brand’s earth tones rather than left literal, so the ocean is present without ever being the point. The second is a set of bespoke illustrations, drawn for Eldon and used across every piece of material the firm produces. Between them, a page is identifiable as Eldon’s before you’ve read a word of it.
Movement is deliberate and slight. Just enough to make the site feel alive without ever hurrying the reader. The whole thing is built to be read at the pace the decisions it discusses deserve.
The outcome
Eldon launched with a complete, cohesive identity – wordmark, website, business cards, LinkedIn presence – that looks like a firm with far more history behind it than it has.
The response was immediate. Within a day of rollout, Maya’s professional network came back to her, many of them referencing the branding and website directly. For a firm whose credibility is the product, that’s the result that counts.
Maya is one of the most impressive people we’ve worked with. A joy across the whole team, and we’ve no doubt the firm will be a huge success.
